Who in the world would ever come here?

Jano floated through the land, examining one of the more devastated places of this world. Dry wood was covered everywhere, but he didn't make a sound as he calmly hovered above it.
Interestedly he picked one of the sticks up, examining them. Who in the world would ever come here?

Yes...

He calmly landed on the ground, and shoved some of the sticks aside to enjoy the muddy ground beneath.
In the distance he could spot some smoke. Maybe from a mountain, or a city. He didn't care right now. At this moment the grey land was all he needed. He adjusted his hat a bit and a tiny gush of wind blew some of the sticks away.
This would be his new domicile.

Link walked across the eerie destroyed forest, stepping over splintered logs and branches. What had happened here? Though this place was not a part of Hyrule, he still felt the bitter injustice of a forest being reduced to a wasteland. Was it because of what was going on with the worlds? His stomach lurched at the thought that his beloved homeland could be in a similar state. He hoped not, but either way he'd find out soon enough. He'd been promised he'd be able to visit his home if he found someone for the Dictator.

Link wasn't sure he trusted the Dictator, something about his mysterious nature made it hard to assume his intentions would be honestly disclosed. But Link also had no proof that he was not to be trusted, perhaps he had taken them from their homeworlds because he needed their help? Maybe they were going to stop the mysterious evil that was threatening everyone. Link kind of hoped this would be the case, he was itching to do something about the source of this destruction.

The young Hylian squinted across the stretch of debris. Whoever this Jano was, he was around here somewhere, and Link would find him. "See anything, Midna?" Link asked his companion, looking over at her.

Midna's impish shadow sprung from Link's own. "Not yet...It can't be that hard to find someone, right?" She floated on her back. "Of course you were always a bit on the slower side~" She giggled and shrunk back into his shadow, keeping an eye on the little boy. Sure, he wasn't doing her errands, but she wasn't going to let him go alone either.

Link looked around again, smiling internally. Despite her sassy comments, he was glad Midna had come with him. Link continued to walk through the wreckage, trying to scan his surroundings, but finding his attention mainly focused on finding safe footing. After a fw minutes he noticed something in the distance, smoke. Was there a house out here? Maybe that was where Jano lived.

The lad started toward the distant sign of life, though he hadn't walked but twenty more steps when he came across another oddity in this land. A very odd oddity. It was a strange looking... creature, in a hat, sitting on a cleared out patch of ground. Cautiously, Link changed his course so he was now walking toward the creature. If it was dangerous, he was ready to fight. But because it wore a hat, he though it might be able to talk, and so could tell him where he was... and where the one he was searching for was.

"Hey! Can you tell me where a guy named Jano is?" Link called.

The eig cautiously opened his single eye, stroking over the skull on his wand.
"What would anybody want from a Jano?" he questioned, fixing his eye on the young visitor.
He closed his eye again and turned away slightly, a soft chuckle emitting from his throat.
"What would anyone hope to find in this place? There is noone but me... anymore."
He turned to face the young boy again, opening his eye and examining the green guy thoroughly.
There was no... fear in his eyes.

Interesting.

"What would anybody want from a Jano?"

So the creature could talk. Now that Link had gotten close enough to get a good look at it, the creature was a strange one. With a single eye, it reminded him of the Eye Keese, only much bigger and with no wings.

The creature chuckled.

"What would anyone hope to find in this place? There is noone but me... anymore."

Link frowned slightly. What did that mean? Had this creature done this and killed everyone who'd lived here? Or was it just the only thing that remained... but if it was the only thing here, did that mean it was Jano?

"What happened here?" Link asked, his voice very serious for a child.

Jano shrugged and slumped into an almost casual stance.
He blinked his eye at Link, a weird shimmer reflecting in it.
"Don't give me that look," he then protested and shoved his skull into the hero's face, "I know exactly what you're thinking!"
And that he did.

The skull circled a few times before Link's eyes before Jano pulled it back again, resting his claws on it and turning away to glance over the field.
"Yes, I am Jano, and I do not know what happened here."
This place was appealing to him either way.

So this was Jano. He reminded Link of the strange Poe Salesman that the young Hylian had once done dealings with, though in mannerisms only; the two looked nothing alike. "Do you live here?" Link asked, already cheerier now that he knew he'd found who he was sent to find. And now that he was pretty sure Jano wasn't going to attack him.

The question remained for a while before Jano decided to respond. With his back still half-turned on the boy, the eig gazed into the distance and observed the devastation.
"Not yet," he answered, seeing no reason to hide it from the kid, "But I do hope to make it my home."

The bones of his fingers rubbed against each other before the eye shot Link another glance.
"But I am sure you are not here to do your regular sightseeing. So what do you want from me?"

He then waged his finger at the hero.
"You do not know the name, so I cannot let you in."

Link held back his curiosity at Jano's last statement. He would ask about it later, if he had the chance to, but right now he owed the strange creature an explanation of why he was here. "I was sent here to get you," Link explained, looking solemn. "Something evil is threatening our worlds, and I'm here to get you and bring you to safety." This was what the Dictator had told him, and Link knew it was an alarming story to hear. All the more reason he needed to get back to Hyrule, he had to protect it. He would protect it.

The young boy took out the 'button' that he'd been told to use when Jano was located, and pressed on the round part that stuck out so it was flattened into the rest of the little slab. "This is so they know where we are." He had no idea how it worked, but he just had to assume it would work.

There was a moment of silence before a ghastly laugh filled the cold air.
"Oh, the irony," Jano stated, wiping over his eye, "Yes, let them be threatened, I'd enjoy that."
He looked back at the empty field before them.
"And this is not my world, but whatever..."

Link then pulled out a strange gadget, and Jano frowned. Pirates... They had not DARED themselves in his lair, but he had been watching... and collected lots of nightmares because of them.
The eig disgustedly pulled away from the button and turned his back on Link as he explained.

"I see."

There was suddenly a flash, and three staff members of Nexus appeared in the cave.

"Good job, Link." said the first man, patting the small boy on the head. "Now we can get Jano here to safety." he smiled. He seemed to be the man in charge.

"Alright boys, lets get these two back to the ship!" he exclaimed, picking up the flashing red light Link had place. It was placed in his pocket. In a flash of light, they were transported to the ship. The cave was quiet once again.

"Yes, let them be threatened, I'd enjoy that."

"What?" That was not the response he had expected. Link frowned, but on his youthful face it looked more like a pouty child than a concerned hero. He was feeling less and less sure about this whole endeavor. Jano certainly didn't seem like the kind who would help protect their wolds, and if he was, in fact, amused by their destruction, what did the Dictator want with him?

Link added, not really defensively, but almost apologetically, "And I didn't now this wasn't your world, you're here, so I thought..." But the Hylian never finished his sentence, because three men that he knew worked on the ship appeared out of nowhere, warping into their presence, much like Link had warped to this planet.

"Good job, Link. Now we can get Jano here to safety."

The speaker, a tall and thin, but not scrawny, man patted Link on the head, before addressing his fellows and, using the same magic they'd used to get here, warped both Link and Jano back to the ship.
