Its So Not Stealing

"Come on, this way." called out the boy to the other, whisperingly.

Thanos Ephah walked down the flight of stairs to the Underworks, the area below the main deck. He was accompanied by Alex, his new friend he had made since arriving here on the Nexus. The ten year old led Alex down to an facility called the "Cargo Hold". It was here that they would probably find what they had snuck out after lights-out for: special food to stock their room with. The greedy little bastard he was, the Lasombra didn't want to have mere simplistic food in his minifridge; he wanted the cream of the crop when it came to his personal supply of food. It didn't matter he would not be able to eat it; Athanasios simply had to have the best.

Sneaking around in the Cargo Hold, the strange child kept an eye out for security cameras and guards as he searched for the area of the cargo hold that held the food.

Alex followed behind his new friend, turning his head this way and that. The last time they had been alone, with just Dragos, Athan had almost been taken by what he had called the darkness. If Athan was to get attacked again, Alex didn't think that he'd be able to help him get away from it.

"The Cargo Hold" was a huge, grayish room with boxes upon boxes of mostly anything you could think of. Well, almost. Everything was split into sections labeled as "clothes" "shoes" "kitchen supplies" etc... There were wooden boxes, and purple and black metal boxes. The room was cold, as to keep any food that was there to be kept fresh. One section was blocked off by a door and had the label "freezer."

Creeping through the Cargo Hold, Athanasios searched from aisle to aisle, eventually coming up to an open section labelled "Food". There seemed to be several sub groups, such as "Fruit", "Grains", "Spices", "Vegetables", "Fungi", "Canned", "Mixes", "Cookies", and other selections. Trying to figure out all of his options before he even thought of choosing food to take back, Thanos walked up to the Freezer. The Lasombra child attempted to open the door, but to no avail. It was locked, electronically. A slot to swipe a pass card through was next to the door, a red light blinking.

How would they get past the door? All the good, delicious stuff was bound to be past that door! The ten year old boy wanted the food held in the freezer, and he would try to find a way to get it.

"Alex, do yo know if there are any electric control panels in the Cargo Hold? I want to get in the Freezer and need to turn off the electricity to unlock it." the vampire inquired, turning to his friend.

Alex followed Athan around looking at all the boxes. The cookies caught his attention, but he saw that Athan had a bigger prize in mind. He had gone straight for the cold metal freezer. There was probably ice cream in there, and Alex loved that sweet, cold treat.

"A-actually Athan w-we don't need to do that." he said, taking out a pass card "I-I took it from Th-The Dictator...but shh don't tell anyone..." he handed it to the mini "mob" leader.

Well that solved that problem, Athanasios thought to himself. This made getting into the Freezer much easier now. With a swipe of the card through the slot, the small light on the lock panel turned green. There was a high pitched bing, the chiming sound alerting the boys that the door was now unlocked.

Sure enough, it worked; as Thanos went to open the door, turning the handle, the door swung open. An icy breeze blew out the door, water vapor condensing into fog. A light turned on in the freezer, illuminating the chilly room.

There was slabs of meat hanging on racks, boxes on shelves, and blocks of ice in the Freezer. Walking around, the Lasombra boy took a look around at the frozen treats.

Alex happily followed Athan into the freezer. Not very excited about all the meat in the room, he looked around for the ice cream and just as he had expected, there was a huge wall of ice cream that went all the way up to the ceiling. Some of his favorite kind was somewhere near the middle. Tugging on Athans shirt, he pointed up to it.

"I..I kinda w-want that flavor..."

"...You could have just asked, you know."

Lina walked out of the section marked "Magical Items" carrying a handful of glowing crystals, approaching the two boys. She had been there to collect some samples for a minor experiment when she heard voices coming from the food section, and had turned around to see people entering the freezer. "Alex and... Athanasios, right? It probably would have been easier to file a request instead of breaking into the stores. No, I'm not going to call security, not unless you break something. I'm not cleaning anything up," she said to the pair of would-be ice cream thieves, stopping for a while to make sure they didn't run off or send something crashing to the ground.

His shirt having been tugged by Alex, Thanos turned to face the boy, who pointed out his request.

Hmmm... how are we going to get this one

The box was too high for the boys to reach, and there was no easy way to climb up there. This was going to be difficult. That is, it was going to be difficult to get it down using obtenebration without Alex noticing the dark tentacle. Thinking for a bit, he came across a solution.

Forming an arm of the abyss on the other side of the wall of ice cream, hidden from view, the Lasombra had it vertically extend until it reached the middle of the stack of icecream.

"Watch this." Athanasios said, smirking. He punched the wall of icecream gently, seeming to put a lot of effort into it. Just then, he had the inky arm push the row the desired icecream was in, causing the icecream carton to slide out of its spot and fall into the cainite's hands.

"Cool, huh?"

Just then, a lady walked into the freezer, lecturing them about having come into the cargo hold and taking food.

"Hey, well we're making it easy for people by just taking it ourselves. We are technically doing a favor. Besides, theres tons of food. We can take some if we want." the boy coolly explained, giving Alex the icecream, "Anywho, we we're just on our way out, weren't we Alex?" Athanasios winked at Alex, gently nudging the notion.

Alex had been to excited about getting the ice cream that he wanted and hadn't had for some time, he hadn't noticed that someone had spotted them.

He happily took the box from Athan and smiled happily, something he didn't do very often. "Thanks A-Athan. You're r-really cool..."

When he did, he instantly had the want to cover his head with his hands. He hadn't however, after realizing nothing was going to happen to him. He was used to being hit a bit over the head for disobeying or breaking any rules. He turned to Athan.

"Y-yeah! W-we were g-gonna go back to our room before l-lights out..."

"Oh, well. It's not as if I really mind someone raiding a nearly limitless food store. Just a word of advice - try checking the other sections for people before doing that. You might run into someone like the head of security next time, and that wouldn't go over well at all," the scientist replied, before reentering the Magical Items section to finish collecting supplies.

"We understand, Miss. We will make sure to be more careful next time." Athanasios responded, smiling. He walked out of the Freezer, whistling innocently. "Come on; lets grab some stuff and get out of here" Thanos whispered to Alex once out of Lina's range. Quickly grabbing a square watermelon, some cookies, a coconut, and seven kiwis, the young Lasombra hurried out of the Cargo Hold, making sure Alex wasn't too far behind.

The cainite would head back to his room, and leave other plans for a later date. He wouldn't press his luck more than he already had tonight. But tomorrow was another thing. This gave the boy plenty of time to plot out his next move.
