Find Chickens ???? Profit

Link crept into SiC's side of the ship, looking around for the chickens his new friend Thano had released. In Kakariko Village he had help a lady whose chickens had escaped, and the best way to catch them had been to sneak up and just grab them, no bait or traps. And that's what he planned to do now. He could hear a clucking sound coming from down the hall, and he snuck towards it, ready to grab the first thing with feathers that moved.

In front of Link were three brown, plump chickens. Neither chicken was aware of the young boy sneaking up on them, simply just standing around and clucking softly. One named Gertrude flapped her wings a bit, although she didn't go anywhere, the disadvantage of having clipped wings. Beyond these three, farther up the hallway were even more chickens. All in all, there were 15 chickens, so Link had his work cut out for him.

Another chicken named Betty, was closest to Link. She clucked loudly, bored. The chickens had spent most of their lives in their master's cage, so being free was strange to them.

Link smiled at the sight of all the chickens. If this was all of them then, luckily, they hadn't spread out too much. Link wondered if these chickens could fly like the Hylian Cuckoos back home. They looked different, instead of being covered with soft snowy white feathers these birds were tawny. Oh well, a chicken is still a chicken. Without pausing to consider the consequences, Link dove out and grabbed the closest hen by her legs.

Betty clucked loudly as she felt someone unknown grab her legs. She flapped fearfully, trying to get free. The sound of their fellow hen clucking in fear made all the rest of the chickens freak out, flying all around in a flurry.

After a bit of flapping around and going nowhere, the chickens flew at Link all at once, hoping to distract him and make him let Betty go.

Link held the flapping hen triumphantly over his head. Now that he had one, he realized that he had no idea where the cage was. This could be a problem. Another problem that he was beginning to notice was that the other chickens seemed to be... angry... and coming towards him... but he had even chopped any of them this time! Why?!

"Ahhhhhhh!" He shouted and turned around, bolting down the hall, still holding the flailing bird above his head. Unfortunately he was accustomed to such chaos, and he had, in fact, been attacked by chickens on multiple occasions in the past... none of which had ended well.

Link dashed around a corner, trying to lose the perusing flock and hoping to locate their cage. Where was Thano? He would at least know where the chicken coop was!

Betty just clucked and clucked and flailed, although she was still in Link's hands, and wouldn't get out of his grip any time soon. The chickens kept chasing Link, although when he turned the corner, they hadn't noticed and kept going on down the hallway.

Betty turned to Link, glaring at him and began pecking at him immediately. Not only had this strange person 'attacked' her, but he was probably planning on eating her! She pecked as much as she could, all the while the rest of the chickens kept on going, getting lost in the hallway and eventually coming to a stop.

Ow ow ow. Link winced as the chicken he was clinging to started pecking him on the head. One good thing, though, was that he no longer heard the mad clucking behind him, so that meant he'd lost the other chickens... or maybe that wasn't good, because that meant he'd lost the other chickens! Link stopped running and sighed. Now he'd have to find them again. No one had ever said being a hero was easy. Ow ow ow.

Originally not feeling any moral need to go after the Second in Command's chickens, Thano had decided to assist his acquaintance with finding the chickens. Why Link wanted to go after the stranger's poultry was a mystery. Perhaps Link was a hero kind of a person, like the guys in the comic books he had as a child. The Lasombra wouldn't hold this against the the other boy --everyone had their own things. Besides, he seemed nice.

"I see you got one, Link!" Athanasios called out, popping out from a corner in the hallway. "The cage is over this way."

Ephah walked towards the boy in green, examining the chicken he held. It was wildly pecking at him, but as the vampire got closer, it could sense the frightening supernatural force concealed within the young Italian boy. Most animals weren't so good around Kindred. "So where are the other birds, ayh?" Thano inquired, looking around.

Link was glad to see Thano, and as soon as he was directed he started toward the cage.

"So where are the other birds, ayh?"

"They were following me but... I think they ran off." Link said, glancing over at the other boy. Around another corner was an open door, and in the room on the other side was straw and roosts for the chickens. Link chucked the hen he was holding into the room and slammed the door quickly. Now... how he'd get the rest inside without letting already captured ones back out was a new puzzle to worry about.

Betty stopped pecking as she sensed the boy coming towards her and the boy holding her. With a loud crow, she cowered into the first boys arms. Whatever the 'boy' in front of her was, she didn't know, or want to find out. He certainly wasn't human, that was for sure. Betty was put back into her cage, which she welcomed happily. She was far away from the two rapscallions now.

"Cluck cluck cluck cluck..." the clucking came from behind the boys, the group of chickens, although not too bright, had somehow made their way back to the room they had been in and found the two boys. All at once, with Gertrude leading the flock, they charged at the boys, pecking and flapping.

Ephah turned around just as the swarm of chickens flew at him in a fury. Swatting at the birds around his head, Athanasios quickly ran around to try and get away from the flapping and pecking poultry.

"AAaaaah! Ouch, ooh, ow!" the Lasombra child hollered, unable to get from the attacking chickens. Wait a second.

They wouldn't get away from him.

"Link! Get in the room, now!" Thano yelled as he ran into the caged room. If the chickens were dumb enough, they would follow them straight into the trap.

Link saw a flash of feather and was mauled over by the angry flock of chicken. Leaping back to his feat nimbly, he covers his face with one arm, while trying to knock them away with the other. These were very vicious chickens! But he couldn't fight them, not with his sword, that would be wrong; they were scared and defending themselves, not attacking because they were evil.

"Link! Get in the room, now!"

Thano had run into the chicken coop, and the chickens that were attacking him had followed! Link hurried in, leading his own gang of chickens, waving his arms around to keep them from flapping and peaking his head.

Indeed, these chickens WERE dumb enough to follow the boys into the coop. Betty blinked as she saw the rest of the chickens flcoking into the coop, attacking the two boys. Betty rolled her chicken eyes and just stayed in the farthest corner, away from the strange boy.

Inside the coop, the chickens stopped attacking the boys and instead perched on the two young fellas. In their natural habitat, they calmed down exponentially, although most of the chickens stayed on Link, they didn't trust Thano either.

Thano stood there until the chickens settled down, then shook them off, letting them flap down to the floor. The boy brushed the feathers off his clothing. The room was filled once more with the smelly little birds. That creepy person better be happy they got all of his chickens back; Athanasios Ephah wanted to start seeing some respect for him around here.

But the task was still not complete. A crucial matter was still at hand.

"So how do we get out without letting them all out again?" the young Lasombra asked, realizing they got caught in their own trap. "Do we just open the door and try to run fast and close the door?"

Link breathed a cautious sigh of relief as the chickens ceased their attacking. He wasn't sure if he'd be able to move though, because now most of the chickens were pearched on him, the weight of their many plump bodies making it hard to stand still, but he had to for fear of upsetting them again.

"Good chickens." He grinned a little, and slowly started to set the chickens off himself, putting them on their roosts or the floor. One he had successfully removed the birds from on and around him, he turned to face Thano.

"If we're quick and go out one at a time, they probably won't get past us." Link said, determining that two young boys would not need to open the door to it's fullest to slip out. He also noticed that most of the chickens seemed to be keeping their distance from Thano, maybe he'd scared them when fighting them off. That would be useful in keeping the flock from following them out.

The few chickens on Thano were shaken off and proceeded to just sit on the ground. The chickens that had been on Link also stayed in the spots where they had been placed. The chickens all just clucked softly, happy and safe in their coop. They wouldn't try escaping again. All of the chickens except Betty had flown into Johnson, an African American pilot, who had tried to gather the chickens up to try and cook them. He had been aching and craving for Southern Fried Chicken.

After nearly getting eaten, the chickens did not want to go back out into the 'outside world' again. The boys wouldn't get any resistance from these chickens. In fact, they were waiting for those two to leave their coop.

Not knowing that the chickens would give them no trouble, Thano nodded at Link and crept closer and closer to the door out. They would have to time this well to succeed. Slowly putting his hand near the door handle, the young Lasombra kept a watch on the chickens.

Look at 'em there. Sitting there like nothing was happening. Oh, but you won't fool me. The minute I open the door you will all freak out and barge for the exit. But you ain't gettin through me, ya hear?

Holding his glare at the chickens, Athanasios opened the door barely wide enough to let Link slip through.

"GO" he yelled, preparing for the chickens to strike with vengeance.

Link ducked out the door and rolled to get clear away in time to let Thano out right after him. He got to his feet and brushed himself off. He was covered in scratches from the chicken attack, mainly on his arms and legs, but no real harm done.

Thano quickly dashed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. The boy didn't even bother to look behind him, partially arrogant that they would have gotten out fast enough, partially afraid of what would happen if they hadn't gotten out fast enough and a swarm of chickens was on the loose again.

But once the door was closed and locked, the young Lasombra looked around.

No chickens here

They had did it! By now, Athanasios's scratches and scrapes and disappeared miraculously. There was still some pain, but the child was used to it.

"Do you think we got 'em all, Link?" the Lasombra questioned, turning to face the green hero.

The chickens stayed where they were, and except for the one that Johnson had grabbed, they were all indeed there. They were exhausted from their escapade around the Nexus, so soon the room was quiet except for a few sleeping clucks.

Before either of the boys could relax though, Sic, via the teleportation feature on their watch, silently appeared behind the two, stern look in their eyes.

"Did ja get ALL of my chickens? Every single one, especially Gertrude?" Sic asked roughly. Damn dead looking kid, and his 'I can't keep my HANDS off of other people's SHIT'. Sic grounded their teeth together a bit as they glared down at the two.

"I don't know, how many were there?" Link responded to Thano's question. He hadn't even counted the number of chickens they'd caught, he'd been too busy trying to keep them from pecking out his eyes.

"Did ja get ALL of my chickens? Every single one, especially Gertrude?"

Link started at the voice and spun around to see Sic glowering down at them. "How many chickens do you have?" Link asked. He didn't really want to open the door and count the ones they'd already found... but he would... if he had to.

Sic blinked, before mumbling the names of each chicken under their breath, counting each name. 'Gertrude, Betty, Daffodil, Scarlet, Fagface, Dipshit, Mary, Lula, Bell, Sue, Carrie, Margaret, Colonel Sanders, Keri Franny Cici, and Queso.'

"15 chickens all in all." They answered.

A black, red-eyed chicken with a red jewel hanging around its neck approached the small group. Anna looked around before spotting the chicken-hunters and her eyes got large. With an 'eep!!' that counded like a 'cluck!!' she darted off the way she'd came.

"Ah!" Link shouted at the sight of a chicken they'd missed. "There's one!" And without hesitation he ran after the strange bird. He promised to catch all the chickens, and that's what he would do!

The boy was chasing her? Ffffff. Time to make a skilled maniuver. Anna ducked her chicken-body through the boy's running legs and out the other side, back running past the others. HAHA SUCKER!! She thought, clucking happily.
