Darkness Entwined

There was something about Anna that Athanasios could not get his mind off: she seemed to have some power similar to obtenebration. The young Lasombra sensed it was not the abyssal powers he held, but darkness of a different kind. He had heard rumors that the Tremere held a blood magic path that gave them control over shadows that were not connected to the abyss. However, Anna didn't seem to be a Camarilla moron; Anna was more blatant about being a vampire than the Sabbat. The Sabbat didn't believe in the Camarilla's ideology of cowering like beaten dogs towards humans to avoid being discovered. In fact, the Sabbat often enjoyed proving their superiority over mortals. But that didn't mean that they didn't know how to survive; to blindly announce one self as a vampire without some extravagant display of power was suicidal. A monster still knew how to keep itself alive. But a Tremere that broke away from the Camarilla, not so likely to enjoy un-life long. No, this was not a Tremere or a Lasombra. Anna must be something completely different.

And Thanos was obsessed to find out.

Lurking around the main deck, the ten year old stalked out his prey. He would find her eventually. A Lasombra in a searching mission was unlikely to give up.

Anna had finally gotten herself to where she needed to be. It'd taken much longer than expected, what with all of the troubles she'd run into and all of the people and the chickens. Oh god. The chickens.

Now at last, she was where she'd been supposed to go. She half-collapsed in a corner of the area, exhausted. "Jeez...next time they need to give me directions..." She sighed and stared up at the ceiling. She felt much different here. A small, black band covered Anna's eyes as she tried to relax. The light was giving her a headache.

Athanasios relentlessly searched hallway after hallway, on the hunt for Anna. His face was devoid of emotion, too concentrated to bother with faking an expression. The young Lasombra was going to find the vampiress.

He heard something nearby.

Following to where he heard the noise, Thano stuck his head out of a hallway, seeing Anna collapsed against the corner of a common room. Quickly pulling himself back out of vision, he remained still as he held his back against the wall, keeping perfectly quiet.

The black band of mist removed itself from her eyes. The floor was not comfortable. She proped herself up against the wall and let her senses take over. The black mist around her was wrapping around her, like a combination of a blanket and a straight jacket.

That was when something caught her eye. And it'd moved fast. Traveling along the floor, one thin arm traveled, snakelike, to where she'd seen something...and latched itself to a boy's ankle. Anna blinked, and the arm tugged slightly. "...Who's there?"

Waiting for the correct moment to strike, the young Lasombra suddenly felt a force tugging at his leg. Looking down to see what it was, he saw it was the shadowy substance that Anna controlled. Inspecting it, he concluded that it was not a solid shadow like the arms of the abyss, but instead a black mist. It was unlike anything he had ever seen before.

He must have been seen --this would have to be made the most of.

"Ah the shadow monster! Its got my leg!" Thanos yelled, flailing. He started yelling out of fear, acting as if he was severely frightened.

Anna litterally facepalmed. She'd caught a kid. She followed the arm and the voice. "Oh, its you." The arm retracted. "I'm sorry. I didn't know it was you." She smiled appologetically.

Athanasios was panting franticly, seeming distraught. He kept on looking over his shoulder back the way he came, seeming paranoid of something.

"Lady you have to get out of here! The monster is chasing after me. Its going to get me." the young Lasombra stated, seeming panicky.

Come on, Anna. Be the adult and ask the little kid what he meant.

The boy would have to test Anna. He needed to see the extent of her powers.

Anna knelt down to his level. "I don't see any monsters...What do you mean that there was one chasing you?" She looked to where the boy was looking, but didn't see much of anything. That was when she put her senses into overdrive. Better safe than sorry in unfamiliar territory. Her hearing had spiked, she could hear every heartbeat in the room, clearly, and pinpoint who's was who's. She could also make out faint shapes in the dark corners of the room, and...ew. One of the passangers hadn't bathed in a long time.

As planned, Anna fell for it. She basically read the lines Athanasios wrote for her. Now it was time for some shadow play.

Calling out to the powers of the abyss, the Lasombra child summoned four arms of the abyss to rise to his command. He felt his blood burn as he used the power of obtenebration to bend darkness to his will. Just beyond Anna's senses, the four inky black tentacles formed out of the shadows of a box someone had left out. Thanos forced them to meld together and take the form of a beast. The solid shadows did as they were told by their master, shifting around to turn into a shape of a monster with a body that was connected to the ground. It had two arms with sharp claws at the end. The head had no face, not even a mouth. It was completely silent, not making any noise as it effortlessly moved across the floor, approaching its commander.

Emerging out of a corner, the shadow monstrosity seemed to glide across the cold metal of the floor. The ten year old squirmed to get behind Anna. He let out a whimper as he held onto Anna's clothes. Shaking violently, he let Anna's defensive instincts go to work.

"...Oh. That monster." Anna said bluntly. She reached for her sword-....and it was with her other weapons. Damn...Looks like I'm back to basics. If nothing else, she would take this thing down. She pointed at the shadow creature and a black crackling began. She could feel her rage focusing...strengthening her...Thats when the beam fired.

The arms of the abyss were shredded by the dark energy blast. The shadowy form dissipated, leaving no trace of their existence.

Incredible, she was able to take out the tentacles with just a single attack.

However, Anna's efforts to protect the young boy did shed light on her powers. Whatever they were, they were not true shadows. It was something else, more like an energy of some sort. This was quite interesting

Thanos looked out from hiding behind Anna, checking to see if the shadow monster was gone. He was still breathing heavily.

"How did you do that?" Athanasios inquired.

Anna felt much weaker. She looked to the boy, slightly winded, but smiling. This had taken a large toll on her strength, she noticed right away. "Are you alright?...It didn't hurt you, did it?" She asked, genuinely concerned for the boy. Whatever that...thing was, it seemed to be gone now. Damn maternal impluses. She smiled at him again. "Its just a little something I picked up in my world."

"I'm fine. It didn't get me." the young Lasombra responded, calming down but still seeming fretful from the encounter with the shadow monster. "But it will come back; it always comes back." the boy added, visibly distraught.

It was true, he would bring back the shadow monster. It could be a useful tool to scare others and raise paranoia. The shadow crafter could command the powers of the abyss to no end, as long as he had blood. But there was plenty of that here on this ship. He would not only survive here, he would grow and develop in power.

However, Anna had not given the answer he wanted. She was not explaining it, and probably wouldn't until obviously pressed for it. This would raise suspicion towards Athanasios, which was not preferred for now. He had to wait for his moment to reveal his power.

This meant that the young cainite would have to use the power of dominate to get what he wanted instead.

"Please, tell me more about your shadow powers. I want to know if it connects somehow with the monster." the boy stated, enforcing his words with the discipline of dominate. The asking of information became a demand, the force of dominate attempting to force Anna to obey.

Three small chainlinks on Anna's wrist began to glow, but not white; they were glowing a rusty red, as if another of Thanos's kind had marked their territory in Anna. "What I just used was simply magic, drawn from negative energy...and that is the first time I've seen something like that creature, though..." She paused, still not noticing the glow. "I have seen something similar." Her legs were beginning to shake, she really was weak. "As far as what I did to Jana...I'm a bit genetically altered.

Well, that would have to do. It wasn't completely informative, but it was good enough. This told him that this was no Kindred. Anna must be a different origin of vampires. This was rather interesting.

"Ok, thank you." Thanos calmly responded, the edge of the attack now worn away.

Now that the Lasombra had his answers, the young boy had no need for Anna at the moment. He looked up at Anna, seeming to have settled down.

"I'm going to go take a nap. I'm getting tired now and I just want to go to bed." the ten year old cainite said, rubbing his eyes as he left to go 'sleep' in the male quarters.

Anna smiled as the boy went off to sleep. "Maybe I should rest as well..." She walked to retrieve her belongings, but didn't make it out of the corner. She was tired as hell. She ended up sleeping in the corner. Sleeping like the dead, with only her backpack as a pillow and her black mist as a blanket.
